Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Uses appropriate evidence-based assessment, complex interviewing techniques, and instruments related to ambulatory care nursing when collecting pertinent patient-, family-, or population-specific data.
- Develops and continuously updates an individualized plan for patients seeking care, including health-promotion services.
- Prioritizes interventions and implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family, caregivers, and other care-team members.
- Organizes components of the plan and delegates appropriate interventions to care-team members.
- Orients the patient, family, and caregiver to the healthcare delivery system, services, access to care, and available resources.
- Conducts a systematic, ongoing, and criterion-based evaluation of nursing-care outcomes in relation to the structures, processes, and timeline prescribed by the plan.
- Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills with patients, families, visitors, peers, and other healthcare team members to generate a feeling of trust and caring.
Job Description
Education
A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required, or an associate’s degree or technical diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and a signed agreement. An associate’s degree in a related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for obtaining and maintaining an RN license may also qualify. Candidates using the bridge-program pathway must be enrolled in a nursing bridge program working toward an MSN. Verified BSN equivalency or a signed agreement is required.
Licensure
An active RN license issued by the State of Texas Board of Nursing and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association are required.
Experience
At least one year of professional nursing experience is required.
